Rest & Renew

“Rest & Peace.”

When was the last time you truly rested?

Not just sleeping.

Not collapsing into bed after pushing yourself too hard.

But real, soul-deep rest.

The kind of rest where your shoulders begin to relax, your breathing slows, and your heart remembers that it doesn’t have to carry everything alone.

For many of us living with chronic illness, rest can feel complicated.

We often battle guilt when we slow down. We wonder if we’ve done enough, accomplished enough, or pushed hard enough before allowing ourselves to pause.

But God never asked us to earn our rest.

In fact, throughout Scripture, He invites us to it.

Not because we’ve finished every task.

Not because we’ve proven our worth.

Simply because we belong to Him.

Rest isn’t giving up.

Rest isn’t laziness.

Rest isn’t weakness.

Rest is trusting that God is still working, even while we are still.

So today…

Take a deep breath.

Drink a glass of water.

Step outside for a few moments if you’re able.

Wrap yourself in your favorite blanket.

Put down the to-do list for a little while.

Let yourself simply be.

Your worth has never been measured by your productivity.

And neither has God’s love for you.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

May today be filled with moments of peace, gentle grace, and the quiet reminder that you don’t have to carry everything alone.

Rest well, dear friend.

You’ve found a quiet place to pause.

Hi, I'm Josie. I'm so glad you're here. I'm the creator of Chronically Cozy, a place inspired by my own journey living with fibromyalgia and chronic illness. What began as a desire to organize helpful resources has grown into something much more—a cozy home where people can find encouragement, practical tools, honest conversations, and the reminder that they don't have to walk this road alone. Outside of Chronically Cozy, I'm a wife, a singer-songwriter, a crocheter, and a proud cat mom to nine wonderfully spoiled cats. I find joy in creating beautiful things, whether that's writing a song, crocheting something with my hands, or building spaces that help people feel welcomed and understood. Living with chronic illness has taught me that healing isn't always about finding a cure. Sometimes it's about finding hope, learning to rest without guilt, celebrating the little victories, leaning into faith, and discovering beauty even on the hard days. Everything I share here comes from my own experiences, countless hours of research, and a heart that genuinely wants others to feel seen, supported, and encouraged. Whether you're visiting for a few minutes or decide to stay awhile, I hope you'll always find kindness, comfort, and a place where you feel at home. Welcome, neighbor.
